Development
Scoil Mhuire, Loughegar is a modern, purpose-built primary school. Building work on the eight-classroom school was completed in 2011.
It has spacious and well-lit classrooms. Scoil Mhuire has a modern sports hall, special education rooms, outdoor classroom along with large grass and tarmacadam play areas. All classrooms come equipped with interactive panels and interactive whiteboards along with iPads and laptops.
The catchment area for the school extends from Knockdrin and Rathconnell, just outside of Mullingar to Turin, close to Delvin and as far across as Cloghan on the roads leading to Killucan and The Downs. The original Loughegar National School (dating from 1871) is situated next to the school and has been used as a pre-school and after-school care facility for children in the locality.
School Crest
The school crest shows Loch an Gháir (The Hatching Lake) with a nest of swan’s eggs sheltering close to a tree. Our school motto “Mol an Óige” (Encourage the Young) captures our dedication towards helping all children to achieve their potential in a safe and happy school environment.
